Project Manager, Forest Carbon Offset Certification



Plant-for-the-Planet is a youth-led non-profit organization with a vision to restore a Trillion Trees. We are a collective of young climate justice ambassadors, environmental scientists, designers and developers – spread across seven continents – working together to find solutions to the climate crisis.

We are looking for a project manager with demonstrated experience in the science of CO2 certification of forests and ecosystems. The ideal candidate will work with our team members based in Mexico and will bring both skills in the certification process and certification standards. Further experience in project management as well as the analysis of risks associated with the CO2 certification of nature-based solutions are beneficial.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Biology or related field. Any other postgraduate qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in CO2 certification of nature-based solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • A passion for sustainability and ecosystem restoration
  • Experience with CO2 certification process and methods
  • Know-how about certification standards like verified carbon standard and gold standard
  • Willingness to travel to remote places to review restoration projects
  • Project and risk management know-how

Good to have

  • Skills in baseline and monitoring methods of emission reduction standards
  • On the ground experience in ecosystem restoration
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of English and Spanish
  • Willing to hire someone remotely, but prefer someone based in Campeche, Mexico.
